Gluten Free Expo on the Island

Hi, I had such a great time seeing all of my gf friends in Hauppage, New York this past weekend. My guess is that there were about 3,000 people who came out to sample and buy delicious g-free foods. Our Bagel Snaps, gluten free bagel chips, were the first to sell out. New Yorkers love our Snaps. They’re snappy, crunchy and tasty just like the real deal. AND they’re 30% fewer calories than the gluten filled ones. You can find them on Amazon, our website and hundreds of stores throughout the country.

Stay Guilt Free~Gluten Free, my friends.

Chicago here we come

I’m off to the GFAF Expo in Schaumburg, IL this weekend, April 20 and 21. We are excited to be a part of this show once again. It is our 3rd year in a row, and it keeps getting bigger and bigger. Jen, the organizer, is expecting 7,500 people.

At the show this year, we will be introducing to the public our Bagel Snaps, gluten free bagel chips. They are free of the top 8 allergen, are 100 calories or less per serving and are enrolled in the non-GMO Project. They come in 3 flavors: Garlic & Herb, Cinnamon & Sugar, Simply Sea Salt. My favorite is the Simply Sea Salt which are only 90 calories for a 1 oz. serving. This is about 15 pieces which are dense yet light and crispy.

See you in Chicago!!

Reflecting back on 2012

Happy 2013 everyone. El’s Kitchen has come a long way, baby, since a year ago! We officially rolled out our Medleys, gluten free snack mixes to the public through a few major distributors throughout the country. We are being carried by Meijer in the Midwest, Stop & Shop/Giant/Carlyle out East, HEB in Texas and shortly Publix in the Southeast and Whole Foods in Northern California.

We moved into our own plant in mid-October. Within 3 weeks we had outgrown our current facilities. In early 2013 we will add a packaging room with packaging equipment. AND we are rolling out 3 new flavors of our Bagel Snaps: Cinnamon & Sugar (some of our testers say they taste like Cinnamon Toast Crunch), Rosemary & Garlic and Sea Salt (free of the top allergens).

We look forward to an amazing 2013.

The New Year!

The holidays are upon us. Pretty soon we’ll be rolling out our Bagel Snaps, gluten free bagel chips. When we do, I want to hear what dips you like to use with our garlic & rosemary Snaps. I’ll bet a Boursin cheese would be terrific. Also we are working on making sure that our Snaps are non-GMO; we plan to join the non-GMO project in 2013. Happy New Year!

With the holidays here, we are offering free shipping for most of the month of December for our Medleys gluten free snack mix. What a great gift for someone who is celiac or gluten intolerant. Happy Holidays!

Stop & Shops

El’s gluten free snack mixes, Medleys, can be found in many of your Stop & Shops. We still don’t have a complete list but we know that you can find us in a couple of local S&S’s like Wilton and Fairfield, CT. We are also in many S&Ss further away like Mansfield, MA. Keep an eye out for our snacks at Fairway January 2013!

Hurricane Sandy

With all of the destruction that Hurricane Sandy wrought, El’s Kitchen remained remarkably unscathed. We are still without power and lost some inventory in our freezer but none of us who work for El’s Kitchen were injured or lost homes or family members. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all who have lost so much. El’s Kitchen will donate money to the Red Cross to help with relief efforts.

Colin Leslie Walk and Fair

We are going to be in attendance at the Colin Leslie Walk for Celiac Disease this coming Sunday the 30th of September. Make sure you come along by Rye High School Gymnasium (1 Parsons St, Rye, NY 10580) for a 9am start and 2pm finish. You will have the opportunity to sample our delicious Medleys and see what we are all about!
