Summertime: and the living is BUSY

Ok, so Chaz Smith is back in the ‘house,’ meaning that summer has begun here at El’s Kitchen. Many things have changed since last summer: we have almost doubled the size of our production facility in Stratford, CT, AND recently rolled out our new line of Bagel Snaps. The three new flavors of the snaps include Garlic & Herb (great with hummus) Cinnamon & Sugar (a tasty little treat that I occasionally throw on top of a bowl of ice cream) and Sea Salt (which go well with just about everything). That being said, there are many similarities to last summer. For example, we are sending out our snacks almost instantly after they are bagged and sealed, guaranteeing that you always receive the freshest snacks possible from El’s. This is because we are receiving so many orders from all over the country that we can barely keep up! For this reason, we have stepped up our equipment game. We have eliminated much of the Charlie manual labor (such as filling and sealing bags) by adding two new machines which do the work for us. The filling machine weighs out a specific portion of snacks, ensuring that a perfect balance of each snack are in the Medleys. The second piece of machinery allows us to seal each bag in less than half the time it used to take us. Examples like this help illustrate the commitment to efficiency we possess here at El’s Kitchen. We are trying to get as many all natural, gluten free snacks to as many people as possible across the country and eventually the world!

Gluten Free Expo on the Island

Hi, I had such a great time seeing all of my gf friends in Hauppage, New York this past weekend. My guess is that there were about 3,000 people who came out to sample and buy delicious g-free foods. Our Bagel Snaps, gluten free bagel chips, were the first to sell out. New Yorkers love our Snaps. They’re snappy, crunchy and tasty just like the real deal. AND they’re 30% fewer calories than the gluten filled ones. You can find them on Amazon, our website and hundreds of stores throughout the country.

Happy Friday

Hello everyone. Even though I have to work this weekend, I’m still happy it’s Friday. I was eating lunch and decided to use the Sea Salt Bagel Snaps as a crouton on my salad. They were delicious. The right amount of crunch and flavor.

All of our Snaps are being tested for GMOs as I type. I expect to report back to you that all 3 varieties had tested negative for GMOs.

Suffolk County Gluten Free Show

Gluten Free Expo in Chicago

We had a blast at the GFAF Expo in Chicago this past weekend. They were expecting 7,500 people and I bet that they exceeded that amount. People were excited to see us because either they had bought us before and loved our snacks or we were new to them. We sold out of all of our stock and ran out of samples. We also ran a raffle and will pick out a winner. Winner gets a case of his choice of El’s snacks.


Bagel Snaps

El’s Kitchen’s Bagel Snaps, a Gluten Free Bagel Chip, will be available in early April. We are busy talking to stores and distributors about them. Check this out! They will be non-GMO (we have joined the non-GMO project). They are also free of the top allergens: wheat/gluten, dairy, soy, eggs, nuts & peanuts. AND they are 100 calories or less per serving. Good for the waistline!

Reflecting back on 2012

Happy 2013 everyone. El’s Kitchen has come a long way, baby, since a year ago! We officially rolled out our Medleys, gluten free snack mixes to the public through a few major distributors throughout the country. We are being carried by Meijer in the Midwest, Stop & Shop/Giant/Carlyle out East, HEB in Texas and shortly Publix in the Southeast and Whole Foods in Northern California.

We moved into our own plant in mid-October. Within 3 weeks we had outgrown our current facilities. In early 2013 we will add a packaging room with packaging equipment. AND we are rolling out 3 new flavors of our Bagel Snaps: Cinnamon & Sugar (some of our testers say they taste like Cinnamon Toast Crunch), Rosemary & Garlic and Sea Salt (free of the top allergens).

We look forward to an amazing 2013.

New Year’s Resolutions

El’s gluten free snack mixes, Medleys, can be found in many of your Stop & Shops. We still don’t have a complete list but we know that you can find us in a couple of local S&S’s like Wilton and Fairfield, CT. We are also in many S&Ss further away like Mansfield, MA.
